The Dragon Bell

Summer nights are beckoned in,
trapped and locked up shut
in a cave high on the mountain
by the Dragon Bell

Fire lingers in the sky
long after the sun has set
the old men still tell tales
of the Dragon Bell

Heart of hammer falling hard,
grip of vice that's tight as death,
all the burning will of fate
echoed in a single note
and those who hear it sink into a sleepless sleep

Young men watch the mountainside
waiting for the summer's end,
the fire in the dragon's eye
when dark is set free
